Attendance & Tuition Fees

Regular attendance in preschool is highly encouraged. However, if your child must miss a day due to illness or for any other reason, please contact the school office to report the absence. Children must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to preschool.

ALL Brown County Schools Early Education Program sites (Helmsburg Elementary, Sprunica Elementary, Van Buren Elementary, Early Education Center) follow the Brown County Schools calendar.

  • When Brown County Schools is closed, all Early Education Program sites are closed.
  • When Brown County Schools has a 2-hour delayed start time, all Early Education Program sites have a 2-hour delay.

At the elementary school sites, children may attend 2-5 days per week. At the Early Education Center, full-time attendance (5 days per week) is required in the preschool classroom. In some cases, toddler seats may be shared.  However 5-day per week toddlers will be given priority.

For all program sites:

  • Fees are charged based on enrollment regardless of attendance.
  • Days may not be switched or made up during the week if missed for any reason.
  • Unless otherwise arranged with front office, all fees are due weekly.
  • If you wish to add a day during the year, 48 hours notice must be provided using the Brown County Schools Change of Program form.
  • Only one change per 9-weeks is permitted.

Supporting Families with Child Care Assistance

The federal Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) and Indiana’s On My Way Pre-K (OMWPK) child care assistance programs provide vouchers to help low-income families access quality child care. Vouchers support low-income families earning less than 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) – approximately $45,000 annually for a family of four – who need child care due to employment, job searching, or participation in an education or training program.

Click the link below to access Early Ed Connect, Indiana’s one-stop shop to apply online for On My Way Pre-K and other child care assistance in Indiana. You will be asked to create an account or sign in if you already have an account.
